Eclecticism

Anschul [Edit] [Delete] 11:37, 19 February '07

The good users of DiS listen to quite a wide range of music but I was wondering...

do you think it's possible to make a good/great album that really mixes a whole bunch of styles or would it suffer from a lack of 'focus'?

When I say eclectic I mean a record that has folky acoustic numbers, alt rock/pop numbers, glitchy tech-house and electronica, indie dance punk-funk and drum and bass barber-shop

I'd like to make a record like this but I'm wondering if it would be doomed to failure before it's even begun

any thoughts?
or can anyone suggest any records that really cover such a broad range of styles (maybe not ALL of the categories I mentioned - maybe some others instead)

thanks
