Right, so i hate almost every band associated with elephant 6.

But last night i saw the apples in stereo, who i've always found really sickly and annoying on record, and they were AMAZING. Joyous, rousing, beautiful pop music, but energetic and engaging at the same time. I don't think I've ever been so wrong about a band (apart from that time i thought deerhoof were good - hoho). OMG OMG OMG they were so so good.

I was even wanting to hate them: when they came on stage and one of them was wearing what can only be described as a SPACE CAPE, and proceeded to play about 8 minutes of boring build-up music before the first song.

How can a band that should be everything i hate actually be that amazing? it's not fair :(

i think i love the apples in stereo now :D maybe i should listen to OTC again or something....
