Advice on a headliner for a night at the Good Ship in March

theguywithnousername [Edit] [Delete] 19:08, 22 January '07

I'm putting a night on at the Good Ship in March and, having got 4 of the 5 bands I'm gonna put on in place, I'm trying to settle on a decent headliner (perhaps in a rather backward manner I decided to worry about that last).

I've got some ideas in mind of who I want to apprach but wanted to throw it open to the good people of DiS for advice and Myspace links

Pretty much the only provisos are:

A) They're good

b) I like them

c) People want to go and see them - whilst I'm not generally in favour of booking acts in terms of popularity, I do want to get a headliner people'll turn up to see and enjoy it when they do.

d) They'll be happy to agree to a generous cut of the door rather than an agreed upfront fee (I don't intend to take any promoters' cut from this but I do want to be able to pay all the bands something decent)

I'm obviously looking for someone to fit in with the night but I don't want to be overly-specific about that yet 'cos I'm interested in what suggestions are thrown my way.
