Seriously, who actually gives a toss about the charts? I mean, surely the majority of people, if they are interested enough in music, can find another source other than the Singles rack in HMV. And anyone who can't, who cares. Surely it's more satisfying for bands to play big venues and sell albums consistently rather than have a huge surge of single sales in one week. And there's plenty of bands who play places like Brixton Academy who've never hit the Top 10, maybe even 20.
