i never realised quite how "emo" Rites Of Spring were

alcxxk [Edit] [Delete] 21:00, 25 December '06

i mean, obviously i know that they're considered by many to have been the band that took hardcore punk and gave it more emotive, relationship based, personal lyrics and suchlike, but on record, theyve always struck me as a really awesome punk band with these emotionally charged vocals.

until i youtubed them

they actually look like Jimmy Eat World, and bop around on stage really effeminately. i guess i always assumed that Guy would act like he does with Fugazi, throwing himself around all topless and shite.

my general question: did i overestimate the divide between "original" emo and the modern day incarnation?
