Greatest Greatest Hits

oceanRain [Edit] [Delete] 19:07, 15 October '04
I'm usually opposed to the concept. For my very favorite bands it means I gotta shell out $15 for cover art and a terrible dance remix of songs I've already got. But it is a way to cheaply introduce oneself to an established band. And now, especially, I'm able to get a cheap fix without having to immediately purchase an entire catalogue of records.

What're the greatest of the greatest hits packages?

Mine:
1. Blur - If you argued this was the greatest band in the world today the devil's advocate in me could at best nod... in the affirmative. Really, really good bands put out a lot of really, really good records. Case in point.
2. Clash On Broadway - Is 60-some tracks overkill? If it is it's a helluva way to go.
3. Aerosmith (red w/ white) - Even in their cocaine hay-day this band had a lot of shite. But when they were good they were really good.
4. Pixies - cos y'know, they're a great band.
5. Cure Standing On The Beach - Love Cats? Oh, shite! Robert please step away from the Zoloft. The balance of this record is a thing of dark beauty.

Worth mentioning. Bowie's ChangesOne was my intro to the Man. I was about 12 years old at the time (took shite from me mates for the next 5 or 6 years) and played the vinyl so often it warped to the point the needle started jumping of the disc.
