rachiebee1980 [Edit] [Delete] 15:29, 9 December '09

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas PIBE gave to me

Eleven boys a-sharking
Pop songs for singing
Nine shots for downing
Sweeties for chomping
Mistletoe for snogging
Bar-staff a-prancing
Five super DJs
Four rockin’ bands
Three raffle prizes
Laughing Santa and his elf
And a bloomin’ BRILLIANT time for free!
(ok not quite but all that for FOUR QUID? BARGAIN)

That’s right all you crazy PIBE foxes, another year has passed and Play It By Ear is upping the ante to throw you the EMPEROR of all festive celebrations.

Alongside the brilliant four (yes FOUR) bands we’ve got and hot hot DJs, we’re bringing you sweeties, Christmas wonderland, mince pies, SNOW, Christmas Confessional board, Andy Council exclusive artwork, Raffle prizes, drinks offers, mistletoe kisses AND naughty Santa with his sack of goodies enticing all you good (and especially bad) boys and girls onto his lap!

*KILL IT KID*
http://www.myspace.com/killitkid

Love Arcade Fire? Love Antony & The Johnsons? Love the Deep South? Love Ragtime Blues?

Then you’ll LOVE Kill It Kid. You couldn’t get a more authentic sounding band unless you jumped on a jet-plane and yee-hawed down to Greenbow, Alabama with a bucket of lip-smacking fried chick-en in tow.
Instead KIK are from Bath, not the most soul-food reared Blues town, but heck, this band make up for it with raw, epic tunes played LOUD with handclaps, wailing violins and Zeppelin-sized riffs.

Having released an album this autumn, we’re delighted to having them wrapping up our year with their soaring, dramatic melodies and THAT voice. Described as like a cavern-deep bellow pitched somewhere between Antony Hegarty and Tracy Chapman. How do they do it? Come on down and find out!

*THE OLD ROMANTIC KILLER BAND*
http://www.myspace.com/theoldromantickillerband

A ferocious new act who are equal parts Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Ryan Adams. Their debut single has received critical acclaim and with recent live sets at Fabric are being tipped as one of the most exciting new British bands around.

Blending folk, punk and blues, this duo are what the NME describes as “loud, angry and over before you can take a breath....”

*MANNA*
http://www.myspace.com/mannamariam

Not heard of Manna? Well she’s already been praised by Sunday Times Culture, MTV and Q as the newest addition to the list of hot feisty Scandinavians that already contains Robyn, Lykke Li and Fever Ray.

Half Finnish and half Algerian, Manna channels the punk essence of Debbie Harry with tambourine shakes and sha la la woops of early 60s girl groups. Mystifying, haunting and ADDICTIVE.

*THE AGITATOR*
http://www.myspace.com/theagitatormusic

Those of you who were fans of Derek Meins will know exactly what The Agitator are all about. This time paired with ex-Maccabee Robert Dylan Thomas, Meins lets out his traditional howl but this time with the most soulful uplifting vocals you’ve ever heard!

No holds barred, bang that thing and sing if your head is about to fall off – it’s The Agitator.
