Sic Alps + Rock With Electronics + Internet Forever - CAMBRIDGE - 19th Oct

PAvI [Edit] [Delete] 11:02, 6 October '09

Crushing Death & Grief unfurl and display:
SIC ALPS + ROCK WITH ELECTRONICS + INTERNET FOREVER
Mon 19th Oct @ The Portland Arms, Cambridge
£5 adv. - Doors 8pm

SIC ALPS
Around about this time last year Sic Alps stacked up some amps, turned on the echo and whipped the Portland Arms into a wide-eyed frenzy with half an hour of perfect, ripping, psyche tunes, so we’re more than a bit pleased that they’re coming back. All right-thinking people know that their gig was one of Cambridge’s ‘08 highlights.

Sic Alps started off as a duo with pedigree including the essential Hospitals and Coachwhips. They don’t really fit into any categorisation easily - elements of psyche-rock, folk, garage, noise and punk all coalesce into a fuzzy brew with a reverbed glaze. After releasing a ton of super-limited edition tapes records and CDRs on various labels - including Woodsist, Important and Animal Disguise - they put out the stone-cold classic album, “U.S. EZ”, on Siltbreeze last year. A load of that earlier stuff has just been compiled into a double LP, “A Long Way Around To A Shortcut”, on Drag City. They’ve just been augmented by the singular and prolific Ty Segall on drums. Following this Euro-tour they’re off supporting that Sonic Youth band in the US, if that sways things for you.

ROCK WITH ELECTRONICS
Scattershot guitar twang and fuzz plus ionospheric transistor tones, all set to a garage backbeat. Featuring members of United Snakes, The Doozer and Man From Uranus.
