Does It Offend You Yeah?at Matter 28th August

matter [Edit] [Delete] 12:48, 17 August '09

This summer Does It Offend You, Yeah? are preparing their album Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You for release in October, and it is with the new record on the horizon that they come to matter for an exclusive live club date. In support is Yuksek, who’ll be on hand to dazzle with his blend of cosmic ELO-influenced pop and French Touch electro; fellow Frenchman Brodinski, whose Suck My Deck mix for Bugged Out! illustrates his talent behind the decks and his eclectic taste for all strains of dance music; Andy Butler of Hercules & Love Affair, whose own DJ compilation Sidetracked is out now on Renaissance, loaded with disco gems and old school house delights; and Disco Bloodbath, who continue to be the most in-demand cosmic collective around, with their monthly basement parties consistently among the best nights out London has to offer.

With this in mind, it may not surprise you that when the time came to reignite The Prodigy, the central trio; Liam, Keith and Maxim were joined in the studio by Does It Offend You, Yeah?’s frontman James Rushent to help craft what became known as The Prodigy’s return to exhilarating form: this year’s new LP Invaders Must Die. Having turned heads with their debut album You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into and its singles Weird Science and We Are Rockstars’ combination of punk rock ferocity and rave energy, DIOYY? attracted the attention of Nine Inch Nails, Bloc Party and Muse, who were among those who requested the band for tour support and remix duties. With Rushent’s touch being felt on The Prodigy’s top 5 single Omen, and DIOYY? supporting them on the final date of their UK tour, it rounded off a fantastic couple of years for the Reading quintet.
