Rockfeedback vs. White Light presents... CLINIC + BANJO OR FREAKOUT @ the Lexington Friday 19th June

dan_shocks [Edit] [Delete] 16:25, 1 June '09

Hell yep. Obv very limited capacity, so grab tix quick.

Making it their first headline show in the capital for nearly a year, Clinic are set to play an exclusive intimate gig with us at our Lexington home. Throw Banjo Or Freakout into the mix and we have ourselves a night to remember right here. Expect surgical masks, mind-bending freak-outs, retro organs and enough pedals to rival the tour de france.

We’ve also teamed up here with super club night White Light (sister night to long-running indie haven White Heat) to man the decks and rule the dance floor until the very early hours after the bands.

CLINIC - ow four albums into their career, each release (always on the fantastic Domino records) marks another important landmark in unique modern day British rock music. This cult band from Liverpool bonded over a prominent use of vintage keyboards/organs, and their super-charged psychedelic garage-rock is remarkably unconventional, mostly uncategorizable and wonderfully original. Famous for their inventive live show, the band appear wearing surgical masks and other strange attire while performing, instantly transforming any room they play into a creepy theatre of sorts. Their last London show saw them take over the Scala for a special use of animation visuals, but this is very special one-off intimate show promises new material and a very exclusive and memorable performance.

Banjo Or Freakout - Looping, interesting left-field tropical rhythmic pop from hotly tipped London based Italian Alessio. We’ve long championed BOF on the site for good reason, and we’ve looked forward to having him down for a shows for some time. Live a member of the also excellent Gentle Friendly onstage joins him for percussion. Rightly causing a real stir, BOF recall the intelligent dance-filled electronica of Four Tet, Burial and Animal Collective. Strongly one to watch, it’s exciting to think where his individual creativity could lead him over the next few years.
