Following recent packed shows featuring Pete & the Pirates, Selfish C**t and Billy Childish, The Beat Happening Sessions unleash yet another stellar line up.

The event format is simple but effective:
1. The writers of beathappening.co.uk interview a super-cool band on stage.
2. The band plays some songs.
3. The interview is published at beathappening.co.uk, Beat Happening magazine’s blog.

Signed to Blow Up Records, London’s Silvery last year released ‘Thunderer and Excelsior’, one of the most interesting and refreshing records to emerge from the UK’s indie scene. Fusing elements of cabaret and punk, they come across like an unlikely-but-brilliant mix between Sparks, Blur and Paul Williams. Imagine if electric guitars existed in Victorian London – that’s what Silvery sound like. Lauded by everyone from Artrocker to Marc Riley to Steve Lamacq, 2009 looks to be a big year with a new EP due for release in May. We’ll be chatting to them about Britpop, Brechtian cabaret, their favourite top hats, before they perform.

Support comes from two acts from the uber-cool Parlour Records; firstly, riot girl/boy outfit, Le Tetsuo, who have been championed by the late John Peel, as well as Rob Da Bank and Steve Lamacq, and have shared stages with the likes of Bearsuit and Pre. They are joined by Project: Komakino, whose dark and atmospheric post-punk has seen them compared with Joy Division, and led them to play with such bands as Ipso Facto and Electricity in Our Homes.
