Vocalist Ed Wright swaggers on stage as if he owns it, which as far as the crowd are concerned, he might as well. With a confidence akin to that of a sophisticated Liam Gallagher and a voice the size of Warwickshire he soon has some of the crowd literally lapping at his feet. He has presence rather than an ego.

Opening with the brilliant Sharktooth – a swirling synth and chiming guitar orgy – The 7.20s storm through a powerful set that includes a cover of The Doors’ Break on Through, and brilliant original tracks such as the epic Flying Kites and the slightly understated yet bass-heavy J’adore L’amour, both from the Aquarian Charm EP. With the latter song you could be forgiven from Tom Hill’s rolling drum intro that it was threatening to become Razorlight’s ‘In The Morning’ but nothing could be further from the truth; if anything J’adore… is the antidote to In The Morning!

Between songs Ed interacts with the enthusiastic front-row fans. By the time the final chords of the anthemic Keep On Holding On are laid to rest, everyone in the packed venue can be sure of one thing: This five-piece really are the best band to emerge from Rugby since Spiritualized. Sounding like Doves, Radiohead, Puressence and the Verve rolled into one big glittering indie-rock fireball, it’s obvious this band have the passion and the songs to succeed. Even Santa Claus has pushed his way to the front row to ensure he gets the maximum 7.20s experience. Can’t wait for the album!
