THE VAPOUR TRAIL

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 21st 2008

VILE IMBECILES

The Vapour Trail are pleased to welcome, all the way from Brighton, headliners Vile Imbeciles. With debut album "...Ma" already under their belts, the group count ex-Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster man Andy Huxley and ex-Neils Children man James Hair amongst their number and have been described by the NME as making "the Mars Volta look like Scooch, resembling a mob of angry punk rock orcs smashing up the studio with the severed limbs of goth serial killers". Playlouder called the album "one of the most important and distinctive debuts of the year". And, back home, Brighton Source stated that "Vile Imbeciles wipe the floor with The Horrors' guts". We think that's all you need to know about this "junk funk/death jazz" noise troupe for now, so come down and witness them for yourselves instead.

THE FIRM

"With heavy drum beats, strong angular guitar rifts, and a powerful bass the end result is a sound that mixes psychedelic with punk rock, pop and even Gothic. In other words their music is fast, loud and intelligent and it's evident that we are listening to a band that does not wish to be stereotyped into one particular genre." - 40Shadesofnoise.com
We have recently been compared to Siouxsie, Sonic Youth, JAMC, The Cure and some other stuff. We have a single out in February, on Whimsical Records and produced by Enemy producer Matt Terry, called "If You Don't Want To Know Life's Dismal Results". It is, quite frankly, rather good.

VIOLET VENDETTA

Violet Vendetta also hail from Sussex and have been making heavy, energised and dark rock'n'roll since 2004. They finished their album in June of this year and have since been shaking up the south east with a string of shows that are simply not to be missed. With a sound that often recalls both the meloncholic edge of groups such as The Cure (with whom they have something of a connection with) as well as the more melodic strains of contemporary metal, there are few groups more appropriate for the decadent rock surroundings of The Gaff.

HEY

Noise rockers Hey idolise Mogwai as a press release states on their Myspace - however, their sound is more than merely post-rock, although it does benefit from some bizarre time signatures and visceral guitar braks that one might associate with that particular genre. They also bring to mind elements of PJ Harvey, Fugazi, Shellac and Sonic Youth, and their spellbinding live show has a tendency to truly captivate audiences. Once again, absolutely not to be missed.
