Cardiff folk/country singer-songwriter Stephen Black (aka Sweet Baboo) releases his debut album The Mighty Baboo this week on Businessman Records.

The sparse recordings, in home studio and a local church, accentuate gentle, sweet and wryly funny tall tales of vicious malice, abject personal failure, and the ripping off of Tom Waits and Jonathan Richman.

The album comes at the end of twelve months which saw Sweet Baboo playing in the bands of Euros Childs and (Neon Neon's) Cate Le Bon, and putting together the band for Daniel Johnston's memorable Cardiff gig in 2007.
