ABoF faves Buttonhead wave a farewell to the summer with this great line-up at the end of August. This will be ABoF's last gig at The Metro for a while but we have lots of tasty treats in store for the last half of the year, this is just the tip of the musical iceberg.

Tickets are £6 in advance and £7 on the door.

Doors 7.30pm - 10.30pm.

Buttonhead

Buttonhead has a mottled history, like a cork goat, that, when read out, can blind an old man, though a pock mark in recent times was finding fifth member Daniel 'Pancreas', which has solidified the once porridge-based lineup. Whilst hiking in the mountains, mourning the loss of multi-instrumentalist Thomas 'Humus', the band found him in a cave being raised by bald wolves. They knew he was one of them, there and then, when shirt buttons streamed from his mouth and ears.

Since then Buttonhead have refined their live act into what closely resembles a burst goat, or the conjunction of mustard and Velcro, and they frequently invite their audiences to spit biscuits and construct large pineapple hammers on stage.

When at rest from their vibrant fun-shows and 'brown-shouting', Buttonhead can be reached at their mobile Corgi leg-and-paw cleaning facility found on various muddy south-eastern estuaries. Their pioneering efforts, using soap and water and sometimes buttered toast, to teach the younger ones how to wash themselves, have gained them esteemed recognition from none other than Pug Welfare & Rescue Association founders Beth Myth and Rick Bubble.

Lakes

Lakes started out cocking eons ago as a live side project to jamie and ross's electronic project 'photobook'. All play and have played in various bands together over the years, some you probably heard of, some you wouldn't of, that isn't important. What is important is that all are committed to playing music for music's sake, adhering as much as possible to a DIY ethic that seems obsolete to so many bands today. "my jacket stay stinking" and all that.

Favours for Sailors

http://www.myspace.com/favours4sailors

In a time of streamlined hair, perfect posturing and asymmetric melodies, Favours For Sailors provide a much-needed musical pick-me-up. Mixing the fractured pop of Pavement, the frenetic power of Gang Of Four, the guitar heroics of Television, and the frustration of four misplaced mid-20s wage slaves, their tunes spill over with wistful lust and exuberant alcoholism.
