See Unusual New Singer-Songwriter For Free Tonight

theguywithnousername [Edit] [Delete] 11:01, 19 May '05
One of London's most unusual new singer-songwriters, Paul Hawkins, plays a free acoustic showcase tonight (19 May).

Paul, who is fast making a name for himself on the London acoustic scene with his sharp, and surreal lyrics and DIY punk take on singer-songwriting, is one of 5 acts playing in the basement of Jamies Bar, 74 Charlotte Street W1T 4QH (near Goodge Street Tube).

Doors open at 7 and Paul is on at 8:15. For more information see www.paulhawkinsmusic.co.uk

FEEDBACK ON PAUL HAWKINS

"Unique new singer-songwriter. Great lyrics"

"In terms of British stereotypes, Paul is halfway between Jarvis Cocker and Bertie Wooster"

"The guy's a genius. Can't sing for shite, mind"

"Shite but audiences seem to love him"

"Raw, direct and entertaining"

"I'd sooner have my teeth pulled"

"What's great about Paul is that most musicians feel the need to write hooks to pull in audiences but Paul doesn't seem to care whether anyone likes him"

"Looks a bit like John Farnham"
