FRIDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 2007

THE BLACK LIPS W/ SPECIAL GUESTS

The Black Lips are what you could call True Visionaries of a skeptical age, taking the throne of the psychedelic garage rock underground in the veins of heroes The Cramps, supporting The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Blood Brothers on their sordid path. Their unpredictable live show has turned them into the most notorious band on the road, three singers, flying blood, group kissing, sudden nudity, fireworks explosions and spontaneous piss drinking competitions. Chaotic and challenging punk rock which has to been seen to be believed.

SATURDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER

MICE PARADE W/ SPECIAL GUEST TOM BROSSEAU

From its outset, Mice Parade has shown a boldly inventive and highly individual take on post-rock / electronica. Mice Parade, aka Adam Pierce, blends live instrumentation, layers of overdubs, and intricate percussion into a distinctive, playful sound. 2007's self titled release begins to even develop a pop strand with The twin drum kits bashing and rattling in the background, but leaving plenty of space to be occupied by vibraphone, electric and acoustic guitars, and cleverly arranged harmonies.

They Are Joined By Special Guest TOM BROSSEAU whose lovely, lilting, almost-feminine folk vocals guide Grand Forks like an affable ship captain sailing the calmest of seas. Hints of lap steel and Appalachian accents that reference his blue-grass upbringing make this a mature singer-songwriter record, if not quite predictably serene enough for the Jack Johnson set. But it’s beauty still lies in an eagerness to gently steer the boat and not rock it.

SUNDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER

FUTURE OF THE LEFT W/ SPECIAL GUESTS & THIS CITY

Future of The Left were formed in 2005 as a direct response to market research which suggested that the perfect unsuccessful and ignored rock band could be creating by melding together the remains of two largely unsuccessful and ignored rock bands from south wales MCLUSKY AND JARCREW. No Pride has been spared in the fall out. They play Brighton for first time to celebrate the release of their debut album and new single small bones small bodies. Their live shows are erratic events which bring together destructive energy and odd atmospheres but end in nothing but applause.

Supported By local boys done good This City's single release celebration.

TUESDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER

THE TWILIGHT SAD W/ SPECIAL GUESTS FRIGHTENED RABBIT

Based outside of Glasgow, The Twilight Sad formed in late 2003 and recently the support of fellow scotsmen Snow Patrol. Where the band’s recorded sound is layered with many melodies, their live sound is a more intense experience which replaces the intricacies of the recordings with a more visceral wall of noise. A band that punctuates its guitar-fueled rock blasts with moody interludes and bits of esoteric instrumentation, The Twilight Sad makes epic songs that sound both punishing and pretty. With a thick brogue that gives his music a heavy dose of Scottish surliness

Frightened Rabbit are a band who live in Glasgow and have done for some time. They record in bedrooms, cupboards and kitchens. Anyone can be in Frightened Rabbit. They have played some live shows in this city, but want to meet people from other cities, in order that they can come and blow into tubes when they play live. Lets keep pop music alive by getting it out of that dress and into a sweater.
