Playing live…

Ok KARAoKE…

Ok Karaoke are an East London based 5-piece with great songs. The majority of the group hail from the small fishing town of Whitby, North Yorkshire (home of Dracula), and follow in the footsteps of other northern miserablists who cloak lyrical scepticism in uplifting melodies and catchy guitar lines (think pulp, the smiths)

The Getaways…

Glam punks The Getaways roll into town with the perfect mix of passion, attitude and rock’n’roll. They have been arrested, strip-searched, kidnapped, stalked, broken bones, blown up many amps (not all their own), and played to 800 people and to one man and his dog all over the UK toilet circuit.

Levelload…

Boy girl duo with drum samples. They definitely rock and it's great to see a young sexy lass on the lead guitar and vox. I didn't have time to watch the whole set as I got dragged home to listen to someone's new Raconteurs album which was quite a mellowing comedown after this evening's onslaught.
Bloody hell I'm so excited I won't be able to get to sleep for hours.

The Direction…
The night is rounded off by The Direction, who are not only the best dressed act on the night but also pulled the biggest crowd - hardly surprising really as the stage is clearly their natural habitat. If the Britpop acts of a decade ago had spent more time listening to the likes of Sham 69 more than The Kinks they'd probably sound a bit like this. Good use of dual vocals and a sound that could well spread as wide as its influences in due course, it's a perfectly good way to ensure the night ends with as much potential as it started with.
