Pioneers

So Long

Label: Northern Ambition Release Date: 28/11/2005

11998
domgourlay by Dom Gourlay December 7th, 2005

More chirpy, uplifting tunesmithery of the kind that makes goose pimples stand to attention courtesy of those people at Northern Ambition.

This time it's the turn of Manchester's Pioneers, and 'So Long' is one of those gorgeous melodramas that sounds like The Thrills with a pulse or the Doves after...one or two white doves actually!

Singer Phil Ziedler has one of those voices that can start a riot on Saturday night and soothe the pain on a Sunday morning. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise but there's a bit of a revolution going on in the North West of England, and Pioneers are every bit as relevant to it as their moniker suggests.
