That Fucking Tank

A Document Of The First Set

Label: Jealous Records Release Date: 18/10/2004

6926
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver October 18th, 2004

My mum would be in a state. “You’re NOT calling yourselves THAT!” she’d say, and then probably pack me off to bed with no supper. I guess mums are more lenient up Leeds way, or else That Fucking Tank would never get a gig, let alone be able to pop to the corner shop for a Curlywurly and a 10p pick ‘n’ mix. The prawns, they’re what you want…

Anyway, this is the duo’s first, like, ‘proper’ release, although it’s actually just a recording of a live set back in March. Therefore, if you’ve seen ‘em already you’ll know what to expect – a kind of danceable, hypnotic rock and roll jam that ticks a number of the right boxes without taking itself too seriously. Those inexperienced but familiar with Kill Yourself will also feel at home – TFT are two thirds of said Gringo rockers. To those who haven’t a fucking clue who or what I’m talking about, why are you even reading this?

Okay, I’ll simplify matters: Lightning Bolt, Hella, The White Stripes, The Chuckle Brothers, Ant and Dec, Pink and Brown, Miss Kitten and the Hacker, Shearer and Sheringham against the Netherlands in Euro ‘96.

Duos are the new trios, you know. My mum’s alright – one of the Bee Gees is dead already.
