Nu

Any Other Girl

Label: Adventure Release Date: 02/06/2003

phandbag by Project Handbag May 30th, 2003

This is wrong. All wrong. This is not sexy, not particularly fun or clever. “Their music tastes range from Miles Davis to Bowie, Nico to Kraftwerk, Sly And The Family Stone to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club” harps the press release, which doesn’t explain why this sounds like a song the Dimestars would’ve rejected (a band who Nu* will ultimately be as successful as – ie. not at all), even though it appears they have ambitions to be The New *Garbage, which will end quite literally. Note those references: highly ground-breaking cult artists of diverse nature plus the token ‘now’ band. Barf.

Musically, Stine Jacobsen and her merry band of Sleeperblokes have produced a three-minute guitar pop song which doesn’t seem to DO anything and which is instantly forgettable, leaving you dry as another saccharine Atomic Kitten cover version. To paraphrase pop’s favourite blonde-highlighted boys; the whole world was (not) watching the day that they crashed and burned. Next!
