The Ga Ga's

Sex

Label: Sanctuary Release Date: 31/01/2005

christopherknightuk by Chris Knight January 31st, 2005

The Ga Ga’s will tell you, with an earnest expression smuggled across their faces, that 2005 is the year of real rock. Indeed, with ludicrously tight black leather and authentic 1989 slacks, they would love to tell you, JD in hand, that international stadiums wait to greet them and their unique blend of sleazy drink and drug fuelled rock ‘n' roll.

Now whilst the first point might unfortunately have some basis in fact, with this weak and mealy offering of ‘Sex’, The Ga Ga’s have merely attempted to flog a riff of such antiquity it’d make Ozzy blush in embarrassment. This Velvet Revolver-lite rifling is then coupled with lyrics involving a sordid incident with a very unfortunate young lady whom, allegedly, "did it all for the sex", while some form of S&M act is taking place: "I’m just a whipping boy for you / just another scratch on my arm."

Pseudo-Masochism aside, the most upsetting aspect of this poor mans' sweaty leatherette lunchbox of a song, is that the best aspect they have to offer the world, is themselves. Sure, they might well sleep with your sister, but only by telling her that they were in a rock band she’s never heard of. Such lazy showmanship is their lifeblood, and I for one am praying for their ensuing transfusion.
