One track, one pound, one day of release. The only ‘one’ that’s missing to give it the full complement is the fact that it’s probably not going to be number one. Leave that to the other set of Mancunians. Whilst the Burnage-originated five-piece see their star in the descendance, the band that formerly called themselves Sub Sub *are heading on a meteoric journey with a vertical trajectory. The song itself is a beautifully arranged collection of New Order-esque guitars, Brazilian percussion and the sort of anthemic refrains not heard since, well, *The Bends. Now, no one likes comparing bands to Radiohead, but it’s that good. It doesn’t sound like them, but it has those similar qualities of towering chorus’, soaring vocals and just the right amount of bombast (i.e. not too much). Personally, I think the song’s about taking a big bag of Es and dancing elatedly and completely uninhibitedly through the night and next morning; “you turn around and watch the world pass you by” coos *Andy Williams *with only the slightest tinge of sadness.

Oh, there is another ‘one’ to the equation: number one single of the year so far. Go buy. Go on, hurry up.
