The Movielife

This Time Next Year

Label: Revelation Release Date: 12/01/2001

DiSvsMatt by Mat Hocking March 12th, 2001

You know those rare moments when you get to hear a band that’s fresh, new & exciting? When the members are young and still full of untameable enthusiasm for the music they play? Where the lyrics aren’t just void, bland & pointless ramblings of a girl they fancied once but contain relevant, meaningful, positive energy which oozes out of every chord?

Well, I’ve just had that feeling. Actually, that’s a lie. I’ve had that feeling for the past month, on my walkman, in my car and well, I just can’t get over how amazing this band are!

After cutting their teeth in the Long Island HC scene since ’97 these promising upstarts have toured the US 5 [yes, FIVE] times, blasting unsuspecting punters with their infectious mix of melodic old-skool hardcore, punk and Indie-rock along the way. Even their producer Brian Mcternan reckons they’re the most promising new band he’s ever worked with. And he’s produced Snapcase, In My Eyes & Cave-In!

I mean, can I persuade you to buy this any more? If you’re still unsure hassle your local Indie shop to play ‘Pinky Swear’ or ‘Once In A Row’ or ‘Deal With It’ or… look- at just over half an hour long you may as well ask him to play the whole thing!

‘This Time Next Year’ is a classic and this time next year everyone is going to know about The Movielife. For punk/hardcore kids this is possibly the most important album of 2001.
