Nine Inch Nail: New LP; Reznor at the Helm, Grohl on Drums..
sean by Sean Adams July 15th, 2004
Grohl's still slagging himself around and Trent Reznor is bound to be still dressed in black, whilst making another opus...

Tenatively titled 'Bleed Through', the whatever-number-it-is (win a grin by posting how many albums they've done as a comment) new Nine Inch Nails album is getting talked about all over the net. Firstly because drum slut Dave Grohl hasn't done anything for a few days and is contributing some drum tracks to the new record.

But today Billboard are getting rather excited about the new news, which is that the conceptual genius playing-everything-but-what-Grohl-does, Mister Trent Reznor, has confirmed that he is self-producing the album at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California. It's not like he hasn't done it before as, he's notably produced and/or mixed everyone from Marilyn Manson and David Bowie to KMFDM, Megadeth and Peter Gabriel.

Reznor isn't doing it all alone: Alan Moulder (whose credits include the amazing production/mixing on Remy Zero's 'Villa Elaine', My Bloody Valentine, A Perfect Circle, Ride, Jesus and Mary Chain...) has been brought into the project as a "sounding board/co-producer/mixer," according to Trent. Oh, and Atticus Ross is serving as a programmer and "right-hand man."

The album is due in early 2005 via Interscope, and NIN have an extensive world tour planned to support it. Two other NIN-related items will precede the album in the Autumn: the DVD debut of the 1997 home video 'Closure' and a deluxe, double-disc edition of the 1994 album 'The Downward Spiral', remixed in 5.1 surround sound.
