The Cure: Set June Release for 13th LP
sean by Sean Adams April 22nd, 2004
Wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderful release news... The Cure set release date for new album...

O' The Cure. O' Robert Smith. O' Ooooh. June 21st (22nd in the states) is the release date for The Cure's first studio album in four years.

The as-yet-untitled album is the band's thirteenth, and is their first release for Ross Robinson's Geffen imprint I Am Records. Superfan Ross also produced the album and if you're not a Kerrang reader, his other producing credits include Limp Bizkit, At the Drive-In, KoRn and Slipknot. Notably the release coincides with their festival performances at Coachella (California, May 1/2), Move (Manchester, July 9) and Oxegen (Ireland, July 10/11) and if you're to believe the rumours Glastonbury (Somerset, June 25/27).

And if you are a Kerrang reader who only knows who The Cure are because of Hot Hot Heat (who're currently recording a new album!) going on and on about them, then you should know that Robert Smith co-founded the band waaaay back in 1976, and their hits include 'Just Like Heaven', 'Lovesong' and 'Friday I'm in Love'.

Just in case you missed it, earlier this year Fiction Records released a Cure four-disc, 70-song box set entitled 'Join the Dots: B-sides & Rarities 1978-2001' which is currently available from all good, and some not so good, record shops.

DiScuss: How important are The Cure to modern music? Favourite song? Does anyone else have Cure-obsessed parents? ...with posters in picture frames in your front room and everything??
