Oxfam Academy - Have you got what it takes to be a steward?
afuture1 by Andrew Future February 18th, 2004
Oxfam is recruiting 2,000 volunteer stewards to work at Glastonbury (22nd – 27th June), and The Carling Weekend Reading and Leeds Festivals (26th – 29th August) festivals in 2004. And now WOMAD too.

To steward, you must be 18 or over, able pay a deposit of £115, and attend a short training session before the festival. Preference is given to Oxfam supporters. During the festival you will work 3 x 8 hour shifts, and in return, you will gain free entry to the festival, thief-free camping, free meals and the warm feeling inside that you’re doing something for the good of mandkind rather than just to the detriment of your body.

In 2003 stewards raised £230,000 for Oxfam and the charity welcomes applications at http://www.oxfam.org.uk/what_you_can_do/events/stewards/index.htm or by phone 0870 010 8553.
