New material from Ginger
misterben by Mr Ben March 19th, 2001

Ginger, ex-Wildhearts leader and creator of such varied projects as Clam Abuse, Super$hit 666 and Silver Ginger 5, has recently announced his intention to become the world's most prolific songwriter by releasing a single a month for a whole year. It is likely that the first single will feature contributions from ex-Wildhearts CJ* (guitar) and *Stidi (drums), as well as Alex Kane, who played guitar with Ginger in Clam Abuse. The track-listing of the release will probably be as follows:

  • I'm A Lover Not a Fighter
  • Same Again
  • Don't Let me Die Lonely
  • Thailand Uber Alles

Ginger has stressed that these singles, all of which will feature totally exclusive tracks and artwork, are purely solo releases, not to be confused with any of his other planned releases, which include the provisionally titled Grievous Acoustic Behaviour album, which is a live double CD of Ginger's 1998 acoustic show at the 12 Bar club in London (scheduled for a June release).

All of this news accompanies the shocking announcement on Ginger's website that The Wildhearts are to reform. Of the original lineup, CJ, (bassist) Danny McCormack and Ginger will probably be involved, but it is uncertain who will be playing drums. The band hope to play some festivals over the summer, despite having been turned down for a place at Reading, in response to which an online petition is currently being prepared in order to try and persuade the Mean Fiddler organisation to change their minds.
