DiS News: Our New Music Magazine
sean by Sean Adams July 26th, 2002
DROWNEDINSOUND.COM LAUNCH NEW MUSIC MAGAZINE...

INTRO: Enough is enough! No-one but market targetting majors are controlling and feeding our nations youth! Fact! Yet the kidz are ramming themselves full of drugs, trash food and babies; rather than their heads full of inspiring records, books and movies. What can be done? The man from multi-monte, he not know....

HOW? WHAT? WHEN? On August 22nd Drowned In Sound Limited will stamp its first magazine on the uk's doorsteps with blurts about the best records/shows/things this year so far and a guide of what's to come. 20,000 free copies and more to be sold in record emporiums and gigs nationwide.

CONTENT includes the likes of: iDLEWiLD, Foo Fighters, Muse, Cooper Temple Clause, (international) Noise Conspiracy, Mercury Rev, The Streets, The Koreans, Sex Pistols, The Damned, Reindeer Section, Queens of the Stoneage, Boards of Canada, Icarus Line, Six by Seven, Sigur Rós, My Vitriol, Biffy Clyro, Aereogramme, Miss Black America, Oceansize, Electrelane, Steve Albini, Remy Zero, Ben Kweller, Sparta, Gemma Hayes, Mclusky, Jetplane Landing, [spunge], d4, Engerica, Kinesis, SPAN, Reuben, Sahara Hotnights, Turn, Arab Strap, Trail Of Dead........

STATS: Drownedinsound.com will reach its 2nd birthday on October 1st 2002, having grown from a small fanzine into what we believe to be the UK's largest independant music website and most definitely the most proactive. Among our list of hacks are John Robb of Goldblade, Didz from the Cooper Temple Clause and Mia from Electrelane. We celebrated our first DiS birthday by putting on a tour of unknown, unsigned, amazing acts featuring Antihero, Engerica and headlined by (now Nme buzz band) Miss Black America. We've since been involved with a tour for Biffy Clyro + Tetra Splendour and a show with Crackout. DiS currently run alt.weds @ the Windmill in Brixton, showcasing the best new acts and sporadic nights at places such as The Garage, The Spitz, The Barfly and venues around the country. Everything so far has been done for the love of music by volunteers, over 50 of them infact, all over the country! No significant money has been spent thus far....

FUTURE: Compilation 'Entrance in Constant Use' Double Cd > Singles > Clubs > Tours > More Showcases > Community > More Proactivism
