The Cure score quadruple US chart success, release remix EP
dionisio by Rob Webb September 11th, 2008

Robert Smith and his ever-reliable band of Goths have scored not one, not two, nor three, but four entries in the US top 20. The Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart (bit of a mouthful, that) currently features all of The Cure's past four releases - number ones, the lot of 'em.

Here's the roll of honour: 'The Perfect Boy (Mix 13)' sits pretty at #8, 'Sleep When I’m Dead (Mix 13)' just outside the top ten at #12, 'Freakshow (Mix 13)' trails at #16 while 'The Only One (Mix 13)' brings up the rear at #18.

What do we get? Since you ask, a remix EP, Hypnagogic States, hits the shelves - real and virtual - this very weekend. It features reworkings of the above tracks from the likes of Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance), Pete Wentz & Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), Jade Puget (AFI), 30 Seconds To Mars and (former touring buddies) 65 Days Of Static. The date for your diaries? Saturday September 13.

Coincidence or something more sinister? You decide. Either way, all artist royalties from the EP will be going to a good cause: The International Red Cross. Ker-ching!

There's also a brand new Cure full-length, 4:13 Dream, landing on Monday October 27 courtesy of Suretone/Geffen - it'll feature all four chart-toppers, we're told.
