DiScover Thee SPC: Sheffield, Monday
dionisio by Rob Webb July 25th, 2008
and Gary Wolstenholme

Something a bit different at Sheffield DiScover this Monday. We've teamed up with our favourite local label Thee SPC to bring you a showcase that's both wholly Sheffield, and wholly wonderful.

Smokers Die Younger, one of the city's best bands for a long old while, will be playing new tunes under consideration for their second LP. Are we excited? Yes we are. Navvy, too, are great. They sound like The Fire Engines – definitely a good thing. The Bon Bon Club (featuring Claire from Navvy and Reenie from The Long Blondes) are a covers band with a difference (they're actually good) and last – but by no means least – there's a chance to check out the latest SPC signing Standard Fare, who promise to be anything but. If that wasn't enough, you can still play Mario Kart and Street Fighter II (and more!) between bands.

Lineup:

Monday July 28
Smokers Die Younger (Myspace)
Navvy (Myspace)
The Bon Bon Club (Myspace)
Standard Fare (Myspace)
Plus Pickers, Knickers and Shitkickers DJs

You've guessed it, you'll need to head to The Harley, 334 Glossop Road, Sheffield (map), get there at 8pm sharp to avoid missing out, and pay a measly £1 on arrival. Good? Good. Register your attendance here - or, indeed, on the mighty Facebook.

To whet your appetite for this Monday's festivities, here's the video for Smokers Die Younger's rather good new single, 'Sketchpads'.
