Favourite Worst Nightmare: unsurprisingly set to be 2007's biggest seller...
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver April 25th, 2007

Sheffield's popular indie-pop types Arctic Monkeys look set to score 2007's biggest-selling LP with their second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare. So far, anyway.

The album shifted 85,000 copies on its first day of release, on Monday, and could reach a quarter of a million sales by the time the chart's compiled on Sunday. There or there abouts.

The album is currently outselling the rest of the top 20 on the albums chart, combined.

The band's debut, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, sold 363,735 in its first week. HMV's Gennaro Castaldo has commented:

"It was always going to be next to impossible to match or beat the phenomenal first day sales of Whatever People Say I Am..., but coming this close is a fantastic result which underlines the band's status as the UK's number one rock act.

"People are buying this album not because of the media hype, but because it's had great reviews and they can't wait to hear it. It is easily the fastest selling album of the year to date."

At the moment, every single track from the album is in the top 150 of the singles chart. True fact!
