Tricky Makes it Easy
rubbafish by Colin Weston June 14th, 2001

Bristol musician (how else can you desribe him?) Tricky is set to release his third album and has enlisted a list of collaborators to help him.

Titled 'Blowback', it is set for a June 26 release and features contributions from artists as eclectic as Alanis Morissette, Ed Kowalczyk (lead singer of US rock band Live), Red Hot Chili Peppers and Cyndi Lauper to name just a few.

How they all appeared was answered in typical Tricky fashion "They wanted to work with me...I'm very easy." Colloborating isn't exactly alien to Tricky who has worked with Garbage, Blur, Bjork and Neneh Cherry in the past as well as remixing many artists, including Bush.

According to the artist/producer, his new album is the 'most ear friendly' of his albums. Following the relative success of debut Maxinquaye and the follow up Juxtapose (an album made when highly depressed and which lead to his diet of 'No dairy, no sugar, no yeast, nothing from a tin'), the new album is highly anticipated.

Some of the tracks on the new album are 'Evolution Revolution Love' the track he did with Ed Kowalczyk (whos inclusion on the album upset most fans), 'Excess', 'Girls', 'Diss Never (Dig Up We History)' & 'Wonder Woman.' One suprise is the inclusion of a cover of Nirvana's 'Something In The Way.'

No single releases have been confirmed as yet, but Tricky isn't worried. "I don't really care, I'm happy with everything on there."

Despite announcing several US dates to promote the new album, nothing has be announced for Europe or the UK as yet.
