disGIRL: thisGIRL sign to the Drowned in Sound Label
disGIRL: thisGIRL sign to the Drowned in Sound Label
sean by Sean Adams May 6th, 2004
We formed a label, we signed a band!

It's with glee we can announce that our first album deal signing to the Drowned in Sound label is thisGIRL.

Last year, we raved about their Fierce Panda EP. And now a third of the way into this year, thisGIRL have put pen to paper with us (backed with the infrastructure of a highly experienced, creative and independently minded music collective called Silentway).

Last night we heard the album for the very first time and its emotional rollercoaster with monster Kyuss'ish stoner riffs, spazzy guitar bits and some beautiful quiet bits... reminded me of bands like The Who, Zeppelin, Primus and newer things like Muse, Queens of the Stone Age and Incubus. All the energy of their live shows has finally been captured by acclaimed producer Chris Tsangarides (Black Sabbath, Judas Priest). The yet to be titled album is out on July 12th.

The first single from the album entitled 'Hallelujah' (DiS0004) precedes on June 14th. We'll have a snippet of the video online next week. They play Download and their RockSound tour kicks off tonight in Bridgend. Check out links to the right for info on this.
