DiS Label: Brave New Ideas Night/Compilation + Signings News
DiS Label: Brave New Ideas Night/Compilation + Signings News
sean by Sean Adams January 28th, 2004
A new year, a new night and some new signings. Boy oh boy have we been busy. First up a compilation and night…

BRAVE NEW IDEAS
On Thursday 5th February, we launch a monthly night @ 93 Feet East, as a co-promotion with 93 Live. The night will feature the most exciting and inspiring new bands around. A compilation to accompany the night will be out in April.
If your band would like to be considered for the Brave New Ideas compilation or to play at the nights please drop us an email thelabel@drownedinsound.com and send your latest demo to Brave New Ideas, 72 Palatine Road, London, N16 8ST.

UPCOMING RELEASES

It may seem a while since we were annoying you with hyperbolic nonsense about our records, but over Xmas we decided we couldn’t believe no-one had signed these bands (yet!) and we got our legal team to rustle up some contracts and now, we’ve only gone and signed some more bands. Here’s news about the first two...

KAISER CHIEFS : Hailing from Leeds, these psychedelic indie kids know what writing a bar table thumping pop choon is all about – you may think Franz Ferdinand or even The Beatles, and you won’t be far off. The guys also run the infamous Pigs Club in Leeds, which we’re bringing to London at 93ft East in April to coincide with the single.
Their demo caused a storm amongst the music biz and won fans at the NME and Radio1, Lamacq in particular has played the demo version of the single already on his 6Music show and name dropped them in A&R Column. We don’t half like our new Uncle Lammo, tho he didn’t send us any socks for Christmas.
For a sample of the single ‘Oh My God’ (due April 5th) and more about the band, check out kaiserchiefs.co.uk

REDJETSON : DrownedinSound.com has been banging on about Redjetson for ages. Now that we’ve got a label and like them a lot, putting out their records seems like a very logical step. They make big and beautiful swirling music with occasional dark and intense leanings with traces of post-rock mixed with Idlewild, Joy Division, Doves, Oceansize and almost prog/stoner edges. They enter the studio in April to begin recording their debut album for release in the summer with a 7” single taste due to prelude the release. redjetson.co.uk.
