DiS: Summer Guide / Truck Programme
DiS: Summer Guide / Truck Programme
sean by Sean Adams June 19th, 2003
We're putting together a Drowned in Sound "Guide to the Summer" which will double as the Truck Festival Programme. Here's the plan and a bit of a preview and a call for you to get involved by taking out ads, providing photos or stocking the mag (even distributing it if you can!)...

We've teamed up with the greatest festival in the UK, Truck, which takes place on July 19th-20th near Oxford, to put together their programme and we thought what the hell, we might as well make it a whole mag that people can read on the train or on the loo and use as a guide at festivals and help soundtrack their summer. We did it for a couple of years as Probemusic, how hard can it be?

We've got interviews, reviews, previews, columns, rants, raves, tips, cheats and writing in all shapes and sizes, with some of the best bits on the site this year so far. The mag covers the likes of Radiohead, Cooper Temple Clause, Cat Power, Mew, Span, Dandy Warhols, The Warlocks, Mogwai, Fountains of Wayne, Sparklehorse, Seachange, Goldrush, Blood Brothers, InMe, Biffy Clyro, Marilyn Manson, British Sea Power, The Roots, Calla, Evan Dando, Electric Eel Shock, Four Tet, Prefuse 73, Postal Service, Electric Six, Colour of Fire, Hope of the States, Broken Family Band, Dive Dive, Keane, Winnebago Deal, Sparta, Mars Volta, Agent Blue, Jarcrew, Cat on Form, Sonic Youth... and LOADS more great bands, you know what we're like. Plus we've got interviews with the likes of Paul Bonham from Truck, Marcus who runs Fat Cat (Sigur Rós) Tremendous Mike from Must Destroy (The Darkness), the guys from Artrocker and Careless Talker Everett True, talking us through how they do what they do, so you can get out there and do it, be it putting on festivals, to having chart topping singles, to running magazines, clubs and living on the edge. Plus we'll have a guide to records to look forward to from August onwards, books to read this summer, festival previews, buzz and tidbits. PHEW!

We're doing a minimum print run of 20,000 newspapers and because it is paper, we're making it FREE from all the finest record shops, venues around the country plus ace, nice, random places, like webstores (tba) [full list of stockists available after the weekend - if you can stock it, or take it on the road with your band, please get in touch!]. But what's more, to make use of this internet thang, the mag will also be available all around the world in PDF format and by mail order too. It'll all be ready for consumption early July.

For advertising rates contact advertising@drownedinsound.com (prices range from as little as £40 upto £600 - or more if you're feeling generous!). Use us to tell the world about what you're doing.
