Drowned in Sound is Recruiting!
Drowned in Sound is Recruiting!
crablin by Colin Roberts August 11th, 2005
Greetings beautiful DiS readers, your friendly Editor-type here, Mr. Colin "Silly" Roberts.

As many of you may know, we're currently finishing off the new, astoundingly intelligent and mindlessly attractive version of the site. It launches really soon and we're really excited about what's in-store for everyone, many new creative outlets lie ahead, with a considerable amount of reader interaction and participation.

Right now though, we're looking for a few helpful souls to join the Staff at Drowned in Sound, to help us with the grass-roots bits that keep the site fantastic. We are really keen to become a one-stop resource for everything musical.

We're currently asking for volunteers to carry out the following tasks:

Listings Editors
With more gigs being held than ever and the interest in live music growing, we are keen to build our Live events database into the best in the UK. With the new site, the gigs database will be an integral part of the user experience and we'd be relying on you to keep our 60,000 regular readers up-to-date with gigs in your area or by the artists you care about.

Releases Editor
As the releases editor, you carry one of the most important parts of Drowned in Sound on your shoulders. Keeping people informed with upcoming and current releases is one of the biggest draws to a site like Drowned in Sound and it's also really vital to the other staff on the site - making sure we have an accurate resource to work to.

Profile Editors
Our database of bands and artists is one of the most comprehensive on the internet, but we always know it could be better. As a profile editor, you'd be writing brief biographies, updating existing profiles and making sure new artists are always listed. You'll also enjoy e-mails from message board users asking for their favourite artists from the past to be added so that they can be rated and adored.

As always, we're always on the look out for new writing talent and your submissions are welcome at all times (we try our best to read them all, honestly). Our glorious sex-bomb of a News Editor, Mr. Michael Diver is also looking for a pair of hands to help collate and add news articles to the site, so those that love dealing in fact are encouraged to send a few words for our consideration

For obvious reasons, we can't pay our contributors, but we do everything we can to organise records and tickets when they're available and more than anything, our 30-strong active volunteer base makes for a brilliant way to meet like-minded people and make a few friends along the way.

It's important that you realise that we only really want passionate, mindlessly passionate people to join in and we don't enjoy those 'in it for the blag'.

E-mail myself on colinDOTrobertsATdrownedinsoundDOTcom if you're interested!
