Cut & Paste Club: April Edition
Cut & Paste Club: April Edition
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver April 13th, 2005
Cor, April already. Where does the time fly to so speedily? Next thing you know, those shoots will have turned to leaves and dropped once more for the onslaught of winter. And so the cycle continues… But, before all that weather crap, Cut & Paste continues.

The What

A club. In London. Playing songs to dance to (and some to drink to). Live bands are thrown in for little additional expense.

The Where

At The Buffalo Bar, just outside Highbury and Islington Tube Station. That's Zone 2.

The When

This Saturday, April 16th, from 8pm ‘til 2am. Prices: £3 for members (see website), £4 with a flyer (likewise) and £5 otherwise. Save money whydont’cha?

The Who

In addition to three rather splendid DJ teams from Silver Rocket (indie club daddies… mummies… ummies…), Noisestar (responsible for the rather ace new Edmund Fitzgerald/Bilge Pump split 12”) and DiS, three LIVE bands PLAY for YOU:

Itch
Itch are grand. They come from somewhere that isn’t London (oooh, get them) and play rock music that isn’t much like what’s, like, SO hot right now (oooh, get them). But it’s ace on toast. They have an album out with a long title. It’s fuggin’ great and will no doubt be on sale at the gig. What’s more, you can read about it here.
Noisestar say: ...a nod and a wink at post-hardcore heros such as Future Adventures and Spy Vrs Spy, this is hip-shaking noodles of racket that'll make you scream, die young or grow old in pain... This noise makes my hair stand up and my right leg stomp in a fashion which can only be described as ROCK. Buy their debut album which is available on white plastic for all you sad vinyl junkies (through www.runningriotrecords.co.uk) or on boring CD from Big Scary Monsters (www.bsmrocks.com) - MINT MY MATE.

Go! Team! Go!
Exclamation marks are, however, SO hot right now. G!T!G! are, like, good. And you will like them, yes?
Noisestar say: ...kill the keyboard through a fuck-off amp, throw it out the window, smash it against the wall, stamp on it, beat it, BREAK IT... and all this over a wall of fuzz-scuzz bass and drums with teen-pop angst spit from the mouth. Bring your lippy and glitter and scream at your TEAM heros.

Waiting For Coniston
Your guess is as good as mine, mate, but no doubt those crazy Noisestar kids know the shit...
Noisestar say: ...emo retreat from the oak(y) pastels of the A40, this is young blood with an old, screaming rage head on its shoulders. Tangled Discord guitars pick at your brain as the structural landscape disappears from under your feet.

Check Noisestar's website.

The Why

Well, ‘cause we want to, really.

The bonus freebie

Drunk Mike on DJ duty at some point or other. It’s my birthday. I’ll be fuggin’ legless. Sue me.
