Some Questions: Fightstar
Some Questions: Fightstar
-Raz- by Raziq Rauf September 22nd, 2006

This band’s only famous ‘cos Charlie was in Busted, innit! Nah, it’s cos they’re pretty mint. Charlie’s massive and he hugged me the other day. He didn’t want to but I confused him into thinking I was a girl!

In an amazing turn of events, this edition of Some Questions was not undertaken by Mr Simpson. Instead, his guitaring cohort Alex Westaway gave his incredibly succinct views on a variety of topics with verve and guile. I like Fightstar. Do you?

On a scale of 1-10, how emo or metal or indie or whatever do you think you are?
There is no such thing as emo. I’m maybe 4/10 metal and 2/10 indie, but I mean Grandaddy not Kaiser Chiefs.

What band do you wish your band were as good as?
Meshuggah

Palahniuk: also influenced
Panic! At The Disco

If you could be drowned in anything, what would it be?
Jägermeister.

If you could make one book as important and integral to Western society as the Bible, what would it be?
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk.

Have you had any near-death experiences?
I was in a plane once that got hit by lightning. I shat my meal.

What has been your most notable experience with fans and admirers?
A young girl once came to one of our shows with her dad. She was about five years old. She gave us a huge muffin that she had made that day.

Just need some
vodka and milk

You spend so much time together, how do you stay friends?
We are lucky. We like the same music and films. So when we fall out we dont have to talk, we just watch films and listen to or play music.

What's your favourite booze and why?
White Russian. After The Big Lebowski, I didnt look back.

Who or what do you miss the most?
My time-bending pastry-baking machine.

What is your favourite country and why?
Japan. The culture and tradition has not yet been corrupted by the West.

What are your favourite websites?
cgsociety.org, YouTube.

What's your favourite alternative porn title for a Hollywood blockbuster?
Lord of the Rings.

What's your favourite childhood memory?
Discovering masturbation.

Name three things you could not live without.
Women, music and White Russians.

Al and Fightstar recommend that you go to Download Festival next year and that you DiScover Oceansize, Mono and Mogwai. If you’ve not got on that shit already, I’ll be wondering what website you’ve been reading. To see Oceansize play as main support to Fightstar, check out one of these gigs next month...
