Freezerburn

Three Track Demo

Label:

holliy by holliy July 6th, 2003

A Placebo-esque distortion on the guitars and a hard, heavy drumbeat to start, leading into Freezerburn’s fast and slightly quirky brand of Indie. I suspect there’re more subtleties to this than the scratchy recording quality will let through but the more I listen to this, and the more the songs sink in through the sound interference, the more I’m liking it. Freezerburn put a strong emphasis on the vocals with a good line in sudden explosions when they reach the chorus. They use this tactic particularly well in the third and final and my favourite track, with chiming guitar under reverb-ing vocals suddenly shifting to a cascading noise-laden chorus.

On top of that, this demo’s pleasing hint of darkness and its odd moments of brilliance - the second track, for example, fades-to-chimes in a very pleasing way - are more than strong enough indicators to show that this is a band worth following up on.
