DJ Chrome

Who's Crying Now

Label: Perfecto Release Date: 02/06/2003

athomas by Andy (quirk) Thomas June 13th, 2003

Looking at the artwork on this CD reveals several things.

1.
Perfecto are a label with identity. Perfecto are proud to be home to chart friendly dance music. Perfecto are a specialist, they are not about to diversify into stadium rock of dinner party music to maximise profit.

2.
Perfecto the label is more important than DJ Chrome the artist, who doesn't even get his/her own font.

3.
The fact that the artwork has the label dug into the sand suggests that it has perhaps just landed there. Catapulted from the dingy wet shores of the UK. The summer starts here, buy this record to soundtrack driving to Space in your open top jeep. Get to the beach for sunset though, preferably at Café Del Mar or its neighbour Café Mambo. Afterwards we're going to the place where the beautiful people go, away from the San An set and where people get high on the vibe as well as the copious narcotics.

Why concentrate on assessing the CD artwork when this is supposed to be a single review, you may well ask? Well, I could write that this is another four to the floor stormer featuring a female vocal of limited vocabulary and some nice piano line breakdowns, sounding not unlike Yorks' flop follow-up to 'On The Beach', the superior 'Farewell To The Moon'. However, that probably wouldn't satisfy the word count for a review. Where as this does.
