The Modern

Industry

Label: Mercury Release Date: 20/02/2006

domgourlay by Dom Gourlay February 20th, 2006

The fact that neither Romo or Electroclash made a big splash outside of anywhere except the fashionable havens of media-central London doesn't seem to have deterred The Modern.

As bold and brash as you'd expect anyone so blatantly wearing their influences in six foot high stencilled clothing all over their bodies to be,'Industry' is the sound of a band who know their Depeche Mode from their Human League like a burger connoisseur would know a BK whopper from his Big Mac.

As pop tunes go, 'Industry' is actually quite catchy, but with lines like "we'll dance together on the factory floor" don't expect the kitsch factor to last long before the sick bags and Plax make a timely entrance.
