Hayling

Label: Skint Records Release Date: 10/03/2003

mtaylor by Mark Taylor February 17th, 2003

The sirens had but one trick to lure unwary sailors to hit the rocks. Then again they only needed one; after all, it worked more-or-less every time.

'Hayling' offers a call as utterly compulsive as any siren could hope to muster. A crystalline, female voice breathes sublime, languid come-ons with disarming tenderness and just a little taunting disenchantment. Oh yes. This is house music with a soft, soft soul. And it's all too easy to be washed along with it.

As the song builds, the pulse of a sonar tracking system passes intermittently from speaker to speaker. But the heart that 'Hayling' beats with is delicate and unmistakably human – it’s not far from nuzzling your navel and telling you that you’re the only person it’s ever really loved. Goodbye nightclub, hello nightclothes. Oh yes. This song will bring you to your knees, reach inside you and turn your tangled intestines into jelly. Utterly devastating. Consider this fair warning, before 'Hayling' sweeps you away.
