Nada Surf

Hi-Speed Soul

Label: Heavenly Release Date: 10/02/2003

3231
gdobson by Gareth Dobson February 3rd, 2003

What on earth has happened here? I mean musically, there are probably a few more surprising things in this world, but not many.

Nada Surf, the grumpy old geek-angst rockers have returned to the fray with an absolute pop gem of a single.

'Hi-Speed Soul' (not to be confused with Supergrass' '_Rush Hour Soul_', of course) sees verses encumbered with eighties rock disco guitars, and a gorgeous, saccharine sweet chorus that merges New Order synths with a vocal that is more Pet Shop Boys than Weezer. And if that doesn't float your boat, then you're obviously dead.

"_you talk to the ceiling everyday/the speakers are shaking/why do I hear you okay?_"

Probably because for once, Nada Surf, you're making sounds we want to hear.
