_I am small. A child asleep, dreaming things that make my eyelids flicker underneath weight of my roaming eye balls.

In the dream, of course, a large white bird rest next to me, its beating large wings fold underneath its body and it winks at me. I take hold of some of its feathers and pull myself up high from the snow, onto its back and I nestle down, comfy and warm. We lift off and the world is transformed into dots of trees and trickles of rivers. The bird flies higher and higher, and the wind through my hair makes my head feel like the living. Gliding and floating, soaring and diving, every twist and turn makes the hairs on my arms stand on end and a shiver tremble down my spine._

"State of emergency, how beautiful to me, state of emergency is where I long to be."_

This month, Bjork releases an album of music from her swan-wings, voted for by fans, on her website bjork.com.

This record reminds me just how gorgeous this woman is. Her vocals transport my brain to a different level. My eyes roll to the back of my head like a cat having its ears scratched. I don’t have all of her albums, I’m not her biggest fan, but every time I listen to this record I drift back to the time I saw her play at Reading (I forget the year) and she was so good (beyond good) that my friend and I literally had no choice but to hold onto one another because we thought we might just break, might just combust, might just fly, must just die… it was so good.

The structure of the album makes it almost sound like an old ‘40’s musical, the sheer joy that vibrates from the speakers every time Bjork opens her mouth, the pure beat of her weird and electrifying musical pulse, takes you too that higher place that so much other music cannot reach..

The snow-bound swan eventually lands despite its best efforts to stay in the air. I slide from its back and now I am grounded… and I will cherish it.
