Sensus

Inertia

Label: Release Date: 08/10/2002

rubbafish by Colin Weston October 9th, 2002

Slough, not exactly the first place you would think of when asked about hotbeds of talent but something is stirring there, and they are called Sensus.

Their new CD showcases the talent that has got people like Ronan Chris Murphy (produced Weezer & Tool) offering their services, hand over fist. Opening track 'Synthetic' has the pop sensibilities of the Leaves but with the indie ethic of bands such as Feeder and the rock sounds of R.E.M**, but to say they sound like any of the aformentioned would be grossly inaccurate. The bouncy, infectious chorus and melodic verses make this song a classic in my opinion.

'Eat Less (Move More)' is a bit more rock orientated in styling and makes the next track, 'Hold Your Breath' even more suprising. Sofly strummed guitars along with an almost hypnotic bass line make this a welcome diversion from the other tracks and stands out in it's own right.

'Let It Go' has the most tribal drum/bass (NOT d&b) combination I have ever heard! Before errupting into an almost Antihero** style chorus but without the anger and hatred they convey... tis very good indeed in laymans terms.

Fact is, you will hear much more of these guys, and pretty soon as well I reckon. I am glad to have jumped on the train before it leaves the station. Next stop, recognition!
