Christiansen

Forensics Brothers & Sisters

Label: Revelation

2442
DiSvsMatt by Mat Hocking September 26th, 2002

I guess if I was a particularly wary parent browsing through a record store for something good and wholesome for my teenage child then taking into account the band’s name, record title and label I’d probably pick this up. But rather than being the next Creed *(Hey - this is on Rev after all) *Christiansen *have much more of a buoyant *At The Drive-In-style jaggedness going on, vocalist Brandon pulling and tugging his way through all kinds of dissonant, jumpy chords. Stand out track _‘Let Us All Die Famous Men’ _exemplifies this beautifully, fragments of *Pavement *colliding with a crunchy *Ikara Kolt *while Brandon’s syncopated vocals dance on top.

You could be forgiven for thinking Christiansen are Swedish, given the short sharp bursts of distortion and urgently delivered shouty vocals, in parts. But through the introduction of a piano and horns into their obscure post-hardcore framework Christiansen at least have their head above the thousands of other similar bands currently doing the rounds.
