My Alibi

Fortunes From The Grave EP

Label: Release Date: 05/07/2002

_kp_ by Kate Price July 5th, 2002

My Alibi… yet another one of the home-grown Derby talents just waiting to be plucked by some lucky record company and thrown into the lime light to live the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. Some of you dahn sahf may already have heard of or perhaps even seen this lot. Recently they’ve been spending their time gigging the London circuit… the Bull & Gate, The Garage etc

From a rather gutsy drum solo commences a three-track demo bursting with promise and widely spread influences. Tinkling, gentle guitar lines highlighted by soothing, gentle vocals surge into an instantly likeable heavily emo-influenced question/answer chorus, followed by fervent instrumental interludes and another burst of chorus; and that’s just the first track!

Three intensely strong tracks with three gripping melodic choruses that capture the spiralling, enchanting chords of Muse, upbeat hollers of Biffy Clyro and soothing calms of Elbow. Given a clued up producer, a little more confidence in the vocals and some more time to continue developing a unique sound, My Alibi could quite easily be yet another musical success from this surprising musical metropolis we call Derby.
