You want the quirkiness of Pavement? The catchiness of Last Splash-era Breeders or even the pop sensibilities of S Club Fucking 7? Well, I give you We Start Fires!

How To Be A Lady is the debut e.p from these Darlington indie-poppers and sees them experimenting with more styles than you could shake a stick at. The four songs on this feminist concept e.p. range from Shangri-La's style doo-wopping on 'Hey Tiger' to Breeders-style indie rock on 'Lady Lazarus', which is based on the Plath poem of the same name, through to 'Stunt Girl' which sounds like Hole covering Mansun's 'Six' and was apparently written about lady-boys! However, my main praise must be saved for 'Take Me Home', a laid-back acoustic song and my fave track on this superb e.p.
