Monotonix

Body Language

Label: Drag City Release Date: 21/04/2008

tom_edwards by Tom Edwards May 7th, 2008

Hailing from Tel Aviv, hard-rocking three-piece Monotonix are likely the most obnoxiously exuberant live act Israel has ever birthed unto unsuspecting mankind. Banned from nearly everywhere they played in their home country, it seemed only sensible to unleash their bestial frenzy on the outside world.

Debut mini-album Body Language captures just enough of the raw energy from their stage shows to tide fans over between gigs and may even convince a few newcomers to check them out. It’s tight-trousered, amp-pulverising assault from opener ‘Lowest Dive’ through to finale ‘On The Road’ with barely the time for breath between tracks.

For those who enjoy seriously overdriven guitars and the heavy metal stylings of The Fucking Champs (whose Tim Green produces here), Monotonix have plenty to offer throughout these six tracks.
